The Rock of Cashel

It is a collection of medieval ecclesiastical buildings set on an a limestone outcrop. The Rock of Cashel is an ancient royal site of the kings of Munster and originally attained importance as a fortress. As a centre of power its origins date back to the 4th or 5th centuries. Today it is one of Ireland’s premier tourist attractions. Cashel is also known for it’s internationally renowned Cashel Blue Farmhouse cheese.
