Croke Park

Also included in the Dublin cross stitch pattern is Croke Park, the principal stadium and headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Since 1891 Croke Park has been used by the GAA to host Gaelic sports, including the annual All-Ireland in Gaelic football and hurling finals.

Cockles and Mussels

Dublin Bay is famous for its seafood, which includes prawns and crab as well as cockles and mussels.  Cockles and mussels, alive, alive-o is a prominent line from the popular Irish song about Dublin fishmonger, Molly Malone so we’ve included it to our cross stitch pattern.

Trinity College

Trinity College is Ireland’s oldest university and featured in our cross stitch pattern.  Founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth 1, it is the home of the famous 9th century Book of Kells.  Notably past students include, Samuel Beckett, Bram Stoker and Oscar Wilde.

Grafton Street

Grafton Street is Dublin’s premier shopping street.  It is famous for it’s live music and entertainment, with buskers a common site.  Many famous Irish musicians busked on Grafton Street in the early days of their careers.   Grafton Street was the destination for generations of Ireland’s children to see the animated Christmas display in the window of otheir largest department store.  Happy memories!
