Designed in a single colour palette, this is a modern piece that would delight any native or ancestor of Galway. It includes the following points of interest:

Claddagh Ring

Included in our cross stitch pattern is the Claddagh ring, an icon of Irish heritage, which has been in existence for centuries.  The traditional Irish ring representing love (heart), loyalty (crown) and friendship (hands), originated in the Galway fishing village of Claddagh. Most young Irish women have worn one at some point.

Galway Bay

With its westerly outlook, watching the sun set into the sea at Galway Bay is a spectacular sight on a clear evening.  The sun going down on Galway Bay is referencing in many traditional Irish songs.

Connemara

Also included in our cross stitch pattern, Connemara is a cultural region in County Galway.  An area of spectacular natural beauty, it has a strong association with traditional Irish culture and contains a major Gaeltacht or Irish speaking area.

The Fields of Athenry

Included in our cross stitch is a line from the ever popular Galway tune, The Fields of Athenry. Adopted by Irish sports fans, it tells the sad story of a man deported to Australia during the 1840s famine, for stealing corn to feed his family.  No Irish family sing song is complete without a few drunken bars of this classic!
